LA CROSSE, Wis., December 13, 2023 – Officials with Western Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Platteville have formally signed a number of transfer agreements for UW-Platteville’s engineering programs.
The agreement allows students enrolled in Western’s Associate of Science (AS) program to transfer into UW-Platteville’s Electrical, Mechanical, and Industrial and Systems Engineering bachelor’s degree programs having fulfilled their general education requirements. Students must meet the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) score of 2.0 and complete at least 32 credits of upper-level coursework at UW-Platteville. The agreement takes effect immediately.
This work of planning and development of these new educational pathways has been funded in part by the State of Wisconsin's System to System grant which supports university transfer and degree attainment.
“These program-to-program articulation transfer pathways do so much for all of us, but most importantly they have a long-lasting impact on the overall success of students,” said UW-Platteville Chancellor Dr. Tammy Evetovich. “Expanding access to high-quality education while reducing financial and other barriers improves students' lifelong learning experiences. I look forward to continuing our relationship with Western Technical College through future collaborative efforts while welcoming even more students from WTC to our campus to continue their education.”
“Our regional workforce continues to demand more highly skilled workers, including engineers of all kinds,” said Western President Dr. Roger Stanford. “Once again, we continue to work on these agreements to expand access for students of all backgrounds and reduce financial barriers to so many in our region. This is an exciting day for Western.”
